Mama Jasmine, the biggest gift
The most helpful part of the doula support was having another brain filling in the easy to miss things for me. As a new mom and even during my pregnancy, I definitely developed "placenta brain", insomnia and general fatigue. Having someone like Iris who got to know me first and then was able to fill in the gaps was irreplaceable. Someone who is very experienced caring for others and was able to help me set my expectations and then figure out new ones was great.
Mama Emma, connecting and confident!
I had my son around the same time as a friend. Iris was her doula and when she heard I was having trouble breastfeeding she offered to video call me to help. Iris was so kind a compassionate when speaking with me. She listened to all my anxieties and asked a bunch of questions. She made me feel so understood which meant the world to me as a clueless, new mom. Iris reminded me that connecting with my baby is the main priority. She gave me confidence in my role as a momma to my son. She also gave me practical tips to help correct what was going on with his latch. She gave me enough encouragement to keep breastfeeding when I was ready to throw in the towel. I am so grateful for her help!

What Mama Alicia valued most…
When I think about all you did: Making my family food, serving us food, grocery shopping for us, loving on my boys, teaching my boys, checking on me physically and emotionally, making sure I took my vitamins, making sure I ate, cleaning my house, cleaning my laundry, helping me breastfeed, giving me tips with pumping and nursing, helping me discovered my son had a tongue tie, this list is never ending. But to be honest what I valued more and has helped me long term is the emotional/spiritual care you gave me. I had a few breakdowns when it came to breastfeeding and just being uncomfortable during the 4th trimester. And this is my 4 baby! It’s not my first rodeo. So, this was not expected. But when I was down you could see before I could. And you gave me emotional support I needed that has encourage me still to this day. I so appreciate you!
I would tell my friend a doula is there to make your life easier. She is there to carry your burdens and help you see the joy in days that feel joyless. I would recommend Iris because she is holistic. Hahah funny that’s her name. But she does not just provide physical support and neglect emotional and spiritual support you need it all after having a baby. We are holistic people we need people in healthcare to see that. And when they do we are more healthier beings. I appreciate Iris. I will never forget my experience with her. And I’m sending everyone her way!! She is the best.
